ICT Competency Standards

UNESCO har tagit fram något de kallar för ICT Competency Standards och som låter mindre mekaniskt än det är. Det är helt enkelt ett dokument där de i matrisfom försöker bena upp vilka kompetenser som krävs idag, bland annat för lärare där de slår fast att

Teachers, too, must have the ability and inclination to experiment and continuously learn and use ICT to create professional knowledge communities.

Det är svårt att säga hur dokumenten kommer att användas men jag gissar att utbildningsinstitutioner över lag har mycket att vinna på att studera dem närmare och fundera på sin egen praktik i det här ljuset. Så här står det i förordet till lärarkompetenserna:

To live, learn, and work successfully in an increasingly complex, information-rich and knowledgebased society, students and teachers must utilize technology effectively. Within a sound educational setting, technology can enable students to become:
• Capable information technology users
• Information seekers, analyzers, and evaluators
• Problem solvers and decision makers
• Creative and effective users of productivity tools
• Communicators, collaborators, publishers, and producers
• Informed, responsible, and contributing citizens
